Background
The Programme Management Assistant will contribute to the daily content management of ReliefWeb (www.reliefweb.int), the largest humanitarian information platform, managed by the Digital Services Section (DSS), Information Management Branch (IMB) of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). S/he will work under the direct supervision of the ReliefWeb Editor, based in Bangkok, Thailand, and assist in the delivery of organizational tasks during the Asia-Pacific time zone. S/he will also contribute to user support for related digital services managed by DSS/IMB/OCHA.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the Editor in charge of the time zone in managing the daily content management and associated tasks for ReliefWeb during Bangkok operating hours:
Ensure the timely delivery of relevant and quality content provided by information partners and sources;
Ensure the agreed outputs are delivered within the operating hours allotted to the Bangkok editorial team;
Coordinate content management with the editorial teams in other time zones and ensure appropriate hand-over on a daily basis;
Monitor and report any technical problems as per the standard operating procedures;
Assist in continuous enhancements of the ReliefWeb content services and provide user support for them and other related digital services
Take part in detailed monitoring and analysis of the situations under the geographical responsibilities of the office;
Take part in the development of new content services/products and continuous improvements to ReliefWeb content management and editorial guideline;
Contribute to the promotion of the use of the ReliefWeb platform and further engagement with information partners as appropriate;
Assist in managing social media activities of ReliefWeb to promote content and cross-market partner’s activities;
Assist in providing user support for ReliefWeb and related digital services as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
- Secondary Education. University studies or other related continuing studies in international affairs, social sciences, library sciences, or other related studies relevant to humanitarian affairs would be desirable, but it is not a requirement.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years (with secondary school). or 2 years (with Bachelor’s Degree),of progressively responsible professional experience in the humanitarian, human rights or development sector, including experience in communication, information management, online editing, desktop publishing or journalism.
- Experience within the UN system would be a distinct advantage.
Language Requirements:
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in oral and written English and Thai is required; knowledge of a second official UN language is desirable.
