UN-OCHA Data Warehouse Architect consultancy
Terms of Reference
UN-OCHA is currently looking to hire Data warehouse architect to set up their corporate data repository. The person must demonstrate skills in data management of disparate systems. The data skills should include experience with variety of database platforms and technologies, ETL, and experience with connectors to Web based APIs, data warehouse cubes and other data sources. The successful candidate should possess data and database modeling experience, as well as experience with related data management disciplines and technologies, such as master data management, data quality, data integration, metadata, data warehousing, and data visualization
Primary Responsibilities:
· Design, develop, and maintain a data warehouse on corporate server with scalability, reliability, and performance as key indicators
· Architect, implement, and maintain new data set integration mechanism to support analytical & ETL processes
· Implement best practices for data quality, data security, disaster recovery, and optimization
· Design conceptual/logical/physical entity relationship and/or relational models for an EDW allowing implementation of flexible reporting capability.
· Understand various business requirements and prepare APIs to publish the data to external system
· Support in documenting the corporate requirements for data consolidation and provide innovative solutions to supervisor
· Perform analysis of data requirements, data profiling and create effective mapping to handle regular structural changes
· Creation and maintenance plan for data dictionary of various data models
Additional Responsibilities:
· Experience handling multiple projects/tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
· Maintain corporate DWH and support the infrastructure or provide cloud based solutions
· Create strategies for optimizing processes to improve performance and scalability of Data warehouse.
· Work closely with infrastructure team, various business clients, and BI development team to create and maintain records on all data sources used for reporting which may include a data model, interlinked metadata model, common business vocabulary, and taxonomies.
· Must be knowledgeable in all aspects of designing and constructing data warehouses and operational data stores.
· Experience with various methodologies for creation of data models for data warehouses and data marts
· Provide testing strategies and support execution
· Provide deployment and release management strategies
· Participate in establishing processes and best practices around development standards, version control, quality control, deployment, maintenance and change management
Experience and Qualification requirements:
· Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent combination of education and experience
· At least 8 years of experience in integrating disparate systems into conformed dimension. Experience deploying and supporting large complex data warehouse/building business intelligence solutions.
· At least 5+ years of experience with SQL server, OLAP cubes, SSIS packages, MS Analysis services, Integration service and visual discovery tools like Tableau, Qlik or other BI technologies
· Experience in Architecting solutions for Data Portal using the open source data portal software like CKAN
· Experience in domains like Open Data Initiative
· Knowledge and experience of HDX/HXL will be an added advantage.
· At least 5 years of experience with data migration from ERP systems with a strong preference for SAP
· Strong ability to author technical solution documents and architecture components
Duration - 3 months with the possibility of extension
Work Schedule Home based - Geneva, Switzerland time zone hours – 9am to 6pm
