Duties and Responsibilities
OCHA requires the services of a programme consultant to support senior leadership on a wide range of programmatic issues including climate change and related workstreams and prepare management briefs.
Under the supervision of the Assistant-Secretary-General of OCHA, the consultant will perform the following duties:
• Research and draft executive briefs, papers and option papers for the ASG, USG and OCHA Leadership. The executive management briefs and materials prepared will be of a programmatic, managerial and operations nature. These can include summarizing complex information in an executive format, visualizing information with graphics, figures and tables, and proposing different options for management decisions.
• Excellent writing and drafting skills, experience in strategic planning and communications in required. Previous experience working as a consultant with UN Secretariat preferred.
• Given ongoing exigencies of service for OCHA staff, in addition to the need for a neutral external party to best identify, draft and present options, an external consultant is requested and preferred to the tasks being completed by existing staff.
Qualifications/special skills
• Master’s degree in political science, social science, public administration, international studies, economics or a related field is required.
• Experience in strategic planning and communications in required. Previous experience working as a consultant with UN Secretariat is desirable.
Languages
• Fluency in English is required.
