The Strategic Communications unit of the World Humanitarian Summit secretariat is looking for up to three summer interns (longer if possible) to help us spread the word and #ReShapeAid!
Responsibilities: The Public Information Interns will be responsible for the following duties:
• Supports production of a diverse range of communications and information products;
• Supports WHS social media channels;
• Assists with managing WHS’ online community of digital volunteers;
• Provide support to communications and outreach of the online and regional consultations;
• Provide support to analysing results of the online consultations;
• Support content management of the WHS website and blog;
• Undertake other communication and outreach efforts in support of the WHS, such as contributing to our global World Humanitarian Day campaign on August 19 2015.
Work implies frequent interaction with the following:
• Public information officers, operations staff and other specialists and managers in WHSS, UNOCHA and the UN system.
Results Expected:
Provides inputs for WHS social media channels, website and blog, including identifying photographs and stories from OCHA’s database; regularly updates social media content guides; regularly interacts with WHS digital volunteers and provides support to them as needed; uses own networks to promote the WHS online consultations and other activities; uploads content to the WHS website; supports data analysis of the WHS online discussions; updates database of WHS related articles and media mentions; other results as agreed with WHS Strategic Communications and Advocacy.
Qualifications:
We are looking for creative and digitally and social-media savvy individuals who want to put their talents at communication and networking to professional use in a UN context. Previous experience in public information and digital media would be an asset. Full competency in Microsoft Office package is required. Software competencies in Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator would be desirable. Language: High level of English (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
